Artist Statement

I explore surreal visual designs through black and white photography, digital photo manipulation, digital collage and printmaking. I am attracted to experimentations of the infinite possibilities and different forms of bodies and fashion.

Fashion is a medium to reveal the spirits of people, just like what photography and art do. Through my art, I unveil my soul. I want to make bodies blossom like “flowers” abstractly through manipulations. By distorting studio portraits, I manage details and create abstractions to explore the energy in the field of contemporary fashion.

I am fascinated by duality, obscure metaphors of death and myths of divinity. To express those surreal concepts, I utilised materials that have significant plasticity, like tulles and organza. The vagueness of materials and their flexible forms connect me with transcendent and spiritual thoughts.

I let my imagination elaborate on quotes and fragmented phrases in novels, poems and songs and create compelling visual representations originated from their characteristics.
